Darren Criss and Lea Michele of “Glee” did more than sing together in public for the first time at “Taste for a Cure 2012,” the Apr. 20 fundraiser for UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation.

“Along with performing tonight, which is such a gift, and so generous, they were both bidding on auction items,” said dinner co-chair Dana Walden, who then turned to the TV stars and declared, “You rock!” Walden is chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Aside from the auction and show, as the event title suggested, the evening offered a sampling of cuisine from top California chefs and varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon from 15 family-owned Napa Valley wineries.

Lea Michele has had a starring role on Broadway, a leading role on TV’s “Glee,” and now she’s made her motion picture debut in the star-stuffed “New Year’s Eve,” which just topped the box office in its opening weekend ($13 million). As Rachel Berry on the hit Fox show she’s an overly ambitious high schooler with her sights set on New York, and in the film Michele’s character is similarly ambitious, an aspiring singer who’s booked her first big gig on the biggest New York night of the year. But that’s where the similarities end, and Michele embraced the chance to stretch her acting chops in a role outside the “Glee” bubble. We caught up with Michele to chat about … Read the rest

Lea Michele doesn’t stray too far from her Glee character Rachel Berry in Garry Marshall’s star-packed New Year’s Eve: Once again, she plays a precocious singing talent matched with a tall, amiable galoof (in this case, Ashton Kutcher). The show is about to return for its third series – beginning on Sky One on September 22 – and there have been hints that Rachel Berry’s parents might finally make an appearance.

“I have been begging Ryan Murphy for so long and asking when it’s going to happen,” Lea said.

“He just keeps saying ‘I don’t know’. I would love that – I’ll keep my fingers crossed!”

Glee is going “back to basics” in Season 3, and star Lea Michele (Rachel) explained just what that means to Wetpaint Entertainment.

“There’s nothing specific that I can say to explain it, but then when you read the script, you go ‘Oh, that’s Season 1 Glee,’” she told us at the Television Critics Association’s Fox party recently. “In Season 1, we did a lot of classic rock songs — or not even so much classic rock, but songs you haven’t seen in the top 10 in awhile. I definitely think they’re going to do more of that this year — taking songs that used to be incredibly popular and reinventing them.”

The storylines will also refocus … Read the rest
