So how does it feel to be involved in such a successful, unique television series?
Cory: It feels great!
Lea: Really good.

What made you want to audition for the role?
Lea: I mean we have agents, we audition to get jobs you know what I mean? (laughs). It was just so lucky that this was a fantastic script. It really made us want it.

Do you have a lot of fun on set? Because the show looks like a lot of fun?
Cory: More fun. This has been such a great show to work on. We work really hard but we have a great time on set too.

What crazy stuff happens on set?

Lately, it’s been Spring (Awakening) Fever on Broadway with fans, celebrities and more coming to see the new show – not to mention that it received the best reviews of the 2006/2007 theatre season. In this first of a three part series, we check in with the second of the show’s talented young stars – Lea Michele, who created the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening – 7 years ago!

Before we get into Spring Awakening, let’s rewind a bit – where were you born and raised?
I was born in the Bronx, and that’s still where most of my extended family lives right now. But at a young age my parents decided that it would be best for me, … Read the rest

We’re halfway through the series of the most all-singing, all-dancing show of the year. But it’s not too late to get into Glee. We catch up with the cast to find out what it‘s like to belt out show tunes, get down and dirty to raunchy tracks, and whether they’re as friendly (or dysfunctional) in real life…

LEA MICHELE, 23, PLAYS THE GLEE CLUB’S ASPIRING DIVA RACHEL BERRY
You were born to play Rachel. Did you sail through the audition process?
I had three auditions: the first time, the piano player messed up and they were laughing at me. I was like, ‘Why are you laughing? This is supposed to be a serious scene.’ But it turned out I was … Read the rest

Born in the Bronx and raised in Tenafly, New Jersey, Lea Michele debuted on Broadway at age eight in Les Miserables. From the time she was 14 until she was 20, she starred in Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik’s musical adaptation of Spring Awakening, garnering a Drama Desk Award nomination in 2007 for her performance.

Tonight Michele makes her official transition to the small screen, starring as the Tracy Flick-ish, hyperactive Glee club member Rachel Berry in Fox’s much ballyhooed comedy Glee. Set in the small town of Lima, Ohio, the hour-long show from the creator of Nip/Tuck blends comedy with singing. But unlike, say, the opening rounds of American Idol, the fictional Glee captures the underdog spirit while playfully … Read the rest

If Rachel Berry isn’t careful, she could end up as Glee’s resident man eater.

Not only has she already locked lips with Finn and Puck, but she’s got another suitor in the wings…

When the series returns next month, you’ll see—and hear!—Rachel perform a goose-bump-inducing duet of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” with Jesse St. James, the lead singer of a rival high school glee club played by the fantastically handsome Jonathan Groff.

Unfortunately, Lea Michele, who plays Rachel, wasn’t able to attend this weekend’s Paley Festival Glee panel (moderated by yours truly), but no worries. We caught up with Michele last night at the CAA cocktail party for the GLAAD Media Awards to get her take on her television alter ego’s … Read the rest
