For her film debut in “New Year’s Eve,” “Glee’s” resident show-stopper Lea Michele found herself in good hands.

Her cast members included such A-listers as Robert De Niro, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zac Efron, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Katherine Heigl and Jon Bon Jovi.

Behind the camera was Garry Marshall, a filmmaker who helped boost the early careers of both Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway with, respectively, “Pretty Woman” and “The Princess Diaries” films.

And doing the costumes was Lower Saucon resident Gary Jones, a Oscar-nominated designer who has dressed everyone from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift, and Jane Fonda to Kirsten Dunst.

Lea Michele has had a starring role on Broadway, a leading role on TV’s “Glee,” and now she’s made her motion picture debut in the star-stuffed “New Year’s Eve,” which just topped the box office in its opening weekend ($13 million). With far more than a few minutes to midnight left on her burgeoning career, Michele sings about her first stint on the big screen.

On keeping up with Kutcher:

“I got to be stuck in an elevator with Ashton for two weeks, which was awesome. And, as you know, he’s hilarious and I got punk’d a couple times. He’s also really smart. … Read the rest

“Glee” fans – and those who see the feature film “New Year’s Eve” – would not hear the angelic singing voice of Lea Michele if not for Audra McDonald.

“Audra is probably the best singer in the world – up there with Barbra (Streisand). I don’t think she has any idea what an influence she had on me. I would say 80 percent of my singing knowledge came from Audra,” Michele says. “How to warm up. How to breath. How to take care of my voice.

“All of my beliefs are because Audra instilled them in me. And I’m forever grateful to her.”

Michele, 25, was only 8 when she was cast in the Broadway production of “Ragtime” starring McDonald.
